Privacy policy

This policy explains what information we collect when you shop with Rajan & Co, how we use it, the choices you have, and how we comply with India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act). Please have it reviewed and finalised by your legal advisor before launch.

Who we are

Rajan & Co ("we", "us", "our") is an electronics & appliances dealer based in Nagercoil, Tamil Nadu. For the purposes of the DPDP Act, we are the Data Fiduciary that decides how and why your personal data is processed. This policy applies to our website and the services we provide through it.

Information we collect

  • Account & identity: your name, email, and phone number when you create an account or register.
  • Order & delivery: delivery address, PIN code, and the products you order, so we can fulfil, deliver, and install them.
  • Payment: payment is processed by our payment partner (Razorpay). We receive a payment confirmation and reference, but we do not collect or store your full card, UPI, or bank credentials on our systems.
  • Support: the contents of messages you send us about orders, returns, or service.
  • Technical: basic device and usage information (such as your IP address and pages viewed) used to keep the site secure and working.

How we use your information

  • To process, deliver, install, and support your orders
  • To verify delivery serviceability for your PIN code and arrange delivery
  • To keep you informed about your orders and after-sales service
  • To offer EMI where eligible, through our financing/payment partner
  • To detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, and security issues
  • To meet our legal, tax, and regulatory obligations
  • To improve our products, service, and website

The legal basis for processing

Under the DPDP Act we process your personal data on the basis of the consent you give when you create an account or place an order, and for certain "legitimate uses" permitted by the Act — such as fulfilling a transaction you asked for and complying with the law. Where we rely on consent, you may withdraw it at any time (see "Your rights" below); withdrawing consent does not affect processing already carried out, and may mean we can no longer provide part of the service.

Sharing

We share your information only as needed to run our business and fulfil your order — for example with delivery partners (to deliver and install), our payment partner (to process payments), and IT/hosting providers who process data on our behalf under contract. We may also disclose information where required by law or to protect our rights. We do not sell your personal information.

How long we keep it

We keep your personal data only as long as needed for the purposes above, including order history, warranty/after-sales support, and to meet accounting, tax, and legal retention requirements. When it is no longer required, we delete or anonymise it.

How we protect your information

We use reasonable technical and organisational security measures to protect your data against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure, or loss. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and to notify the relevant authority and affected users of a personal-data breach as required by law.

Your rights

Subject to applicable law, you have the right to:

  • Access a summary of the personal data we hold about you and how we process it
  • Ask us to correct or update inaccurate or incomplete data
  • Ask us to erase your data where it is no longer required
  • Withdraw consent you previously gave
  • Nominate another person to exercise your rights in the event of death or incapacity
  • Raise a grievance with us (see "Grievance officer" below)

You can review and update your account details anytime from your account. To exercise any other right, contact our Grievance Officer below.

Our services are intended for adults. We do not knowingly process the personal data of children except as permitted by law and with verifiable parental consent where required.
