The latest offering from Bowers & Wilkins, the B&W Square, is an excellent example of how the company's extensive research and development can be rolled into its mid-priced speaker line.
It uses some of the latest techs from the 800 series (and more) including the Continuum cone, a woven polymer woofer with impressive natural damping properties, and the aforementioned 'big-mimic' tweeter.
It's a big, chunky affair with some seriously high-end components inside. It has a pair of full-sized drivers, an impressive array of inputs, and a nifty UI for setting up the sub's various functions.
This is a multi-function speaker that can be used for a variety of tasks, from streaming music over Bluetooth to controlling your smart home devices with its dedicated SubApp app. It's also a decent-looking piece of kit, which makes it a worthy addition to any audiophile's arsenal.
Among the many innovations, the most eye-catching is the dual-driver, bi-amplified speaker system that features a two-way design incorporating the company's top-of-the-range bass driver with an 'aerofoil profile' cone.
The aforementioned cone is the brainchild of a team of engineers with B&W's R&D department.
